Auditions for "Educating Rita" – Join the Cast or Crew!

The Basin Theatre is excited to announce auditions for *Educating Rita*, directed by Sharon Maine. This iconic comedy-drama by Willy Russell explores personal transformation through the journey of a disillusioned tutor and his forthright student.

Synopsis

Frank, a tutor of English, finds himself disillusioned with life, drowning in books and drink. Rita, a spirited 26-year-old hairdresser, is eager to learn and refuses to take no for an answer. Their relationship blossoms, giving Frank a renewed sense of self and Rita the knowledge she craves.

Roles Available

Rita (she/her) – 26-year-old hairdresser from Liverpool. 
Frank (he/him) – Tutor and failed poet in his fifties. 

Audition Requirements

• Short readings will be provided at the audition. 
• British dialects are welcome but not required. 
• Callbacks by invitation: Sunday 18 May, 7:00pm.

Crew Opportunities

We are also seeking dedicated individuals for stage crew, lighting, and sound design/operation. 

Rehearsals

Rehearsals begin the week of 19 May at The Basin Theatre, with a flexible schedule agreed upon by the cast and production team. 

Performance Dates

• August 7, 8, 9 (matinee & evening), 10 (matinee), 14, 15, 16 (matinee & evening), and 17 (matinee).
• Actors must attend all technical and dress rehearsals from 3–5 August and every performance.
